Planting of Willy Naessens Group company forest
On Sunday 27 November, the Willy Naessens company forest was planted in Petegem.
Located just under two kilometres from the headquarters, this forest will be open to everyone. This will allow youth movements to play and romp, but hikers, cyclists and horse riders are also more than welcome.
"It gives me great pleasure to see that on a bleak autumn day, so many people still want to come and help plant our forest. I also notice that people of different ages come up to here." says Willy Naessens. "A forest where one can play, walk, cycle but where one can also relax and picnic together with the family or the relatives. I myself will also often visit here with horse and carriage. Besides healthy outdoor air, a forest is also very important for mental health. The peace that nature gives us is exceptional. Especially in current times of crisis, that is very important."
More than 400 enthusiasts were present to further plant 2.1 hectares or more than 4,500 trees and shrubs in the existing 6.5-hectare forest. This consists of a mixture of pedunculate oak, hornbeam, winter lime and a lot of native mixed flowering and berry-bearing shrub species, among others. The planting was done under the guidance of De Bosgroepen.
